Tips for the Media on How to Stop Screwing Up HIV/AIDS Coverage
I have friends who are "living longer, healthier lives thanks to treatment. " Longer, anyway - because the side effects of their anti-viral regimes (which have had to shift whenever resistance has developed) have been osteoporos is, confusion, chronic dizziness, peripheral neuropathy (etc.) - all of which require "additiona l treatment. "
Longer, yes. "Healthier " is a relative term. "Quality vs.quantit y" of life issues and attendant stress and depression in 20+ year "survivors " now starting declines (especiall y those now fighting for disability retirement as Social Security "tightens the hoops") really haven't been addressed. "The first AIDS generation " is still finding its way, and the media need to do a better job of providing facts and informatio n instead of exploitati on.

Was Hitler A Homosexual? 'The Daily Show' Investigates (VIDEO)
Scott Lively (aside from writing "The Pink Swastika") is also the president of the "Abiding Truth Ministries," former state director for the California branch of the American Family Association, and formed "Watchmen on the Walls" based in Riga, Latvia.
He's also one of the three American evanglicals (including "Purpose-Drive Life" author/pastor Rick Warren) profiled in Vanguard's documentary "Missionaries of Hate." With their help, Uganda's "Anti-Homosexuality Bill" (calling for the death penalty for "for people who have previous convictions, are HIV-positive, engage in same sex acts with people under 18 years of age, as well as Ugandans who engage in same-sex sexual relations outside of Uganda, asserting that they may be extradited for punishment back to Uganda, and includes penalties for individuals, companies, media organisations, or non-governmental organisations that support LGBT rights.

GOP Website Brings Out The Crazy: The Funniest Quotes From 'America Speaking Out' (PICTURES)
I came late to this particular party (shout-out to MollilBlum), and having reviewed a few comments here, I shall not tarry long in getting to the site, creating a faux profile ("faux-file?"), and enjoying reading all of the fine, fine work you've all done.
Thank you for bringing this insane waste of "my/ours/t

Palin: Maddow Was 'Prejudiced' In Her Rand Paul Interview
Sarah Palin has the brain (note use of the single noun form) of a møøse. (I LOVE the "ø" - wherever do people find these things?)
Rachel Maddow IS, however, prejudiced. She has an extreme bias that prefers fact over fantasy.

Man Sucked Into Sausage Machine
No matter how one slices it, I'm glad you mustard up the courage to joke about this. Others have brat their opinions; some think it bologna, but I've relished reading all of these terrible puns. Having been away, I'm glad I was able to catsup on these only recently; I'd been spread too thin to take the thyme to enjoy these moments of rye wit. I'm sure some seedy adolescent sauerbraten some other place (Hollandaise a place that comes to mind) wishes he/she had your knack ("Wurst," indeed). Nonetheless, one would shudder to be found in such a pickle, being tempted to ask if the victim had been hitting the sauce before finding himself in a jam.

Gay Activists ARRESTED Outside Sen. Dick Durbin's Chicago Office
I co-moderate the Queer Poetry group over on YaHell. We chose the name as our own, just as NWA used the "N-word." We're tired out and exhausted from fighting in the face of entrenched opposition and disinformation campaigns from discredited groups (still being given equal time in the interest of "fair and balanced coverage"). We're no longer gay.
We're here. We're queer. Get used to it - and get in step with the last decade of the 20th Century.

White House: Kagan 'Volunteered' Info On Sexuality Before SCOTUS Nomination
Steven Colbert has brilliantly pointed out that the Elena "Kagan's a dyke" rumour-mongering began at a Rupert Murdoch/FOX source, was reported through FOX sources, and continues to be talked about and examined by FOX stations, newspapers, and others.
Of COURSE they'll say Kagan's a dyke. She fits every single stereotype they can dredge up out of the darkest corners of their corrupt souls, which they carefully craft, hone, and slant as they present "fair and balanced" coverage. Even if she were tall, blonde, willowy, and a mother of three (widow of a war hero, who single-handedly put herself through school while raising her half-orphaned brood), they'd make her out to be a dyke because . . . it's the easiest smear, and they will stop at nothing to prevent progress in this country.
Rupert Murdoch left Australia, crushed English press labor unions, debased their media, and then became an American citizen explicitly so that he could buy a controlling interest in 20th Centruy Fox. He hopes to develop cozy ties with China so that he can control a large portion of their media, as well. He hopes to dominate the globe - and he will brook no resistance (especially not from Barack Obama) from any nominee, representative, judge, or executive who might present a problem for his reactionary and ruthless agenda.

Because they're too lazy to gather the stones for a proper public kill-fest (which, being a communal action, would be dangerously close to "communism"), they'll opt to build a fire of acceptable items (books, art, and those always-flaming faggots and other assorted heretics), and fire it up with the SaraVonarola 2012 Torchmaster (fueled with BP/Exxon gas).
Then, they will gather at the river and sing a few choruses of "And They'll Know We're Christians By Our Love."

Bradley Byrne, Alabama Gubernatorial Candidate, Attacked For Supporting Evolution (VIDEO)
The existence or non-existence of a deity can be neither proven nor proven. This is one of the great, irreconcilable conundrums of all philosophical thought - as true as it is frustrating.
Attempts to establish non-existence absent any evidence other than contradiction of an assertion are as meaningless as presuming that either science or faith have absolute sovereignty in each others' realms.
Somewhere, Emerson is believing six impossible things before breakfast and the White Queen is contradicting the multitudes within herself as God plays dice with the universe and Einstein believes in "Spinoza's God who reveals himself in the orderly harmony of what exists, not in a God who concerns himself with the fates and actions of human beings. "
Perhaps.
The universe continues to expand. Film at 11 . . . with croutons.

In Sartre's Words. The Day Proust and Joyce Met. The Death of François Baudot
The void, the abyss, and the Kafkaesque, well-nigh Nietzschean lacuna in the fashion faux pas of that hat, that, as it were, near-Jamesian chapeau, appearing as one of Rimbaud's chauteaux, crying aloud in the season of the pale chartreuse trees beneath which he sipped his lime-flower tea, for adornment with something more purely Wilde than wormwood, gave a fey quality of conundrum to his otherwise grave demeanor, served with a wistful melancholy, on a bed of panache . . . with croutons.

Amy Beck Gets 2 Years For Sex With Teen Student
Couldn't help noticing that ChicagoMike takes a wild leap by the accusation that Supersitition's "theory of sexuality makes homosexuals freaks of nature."
Clearly, Supersition's view is that males and females, gay and straight, have sexual issue emergence experiences that differ. That makes them "different
Things which deviate from the natural process are variant, or "sports," or sometimes termed (if one takes ChiMike's process of conflation to its outrageous extreme) "freaks."
However, ChiMike's line of reasoning is a half-baked mass of logical fallacies, garnished with inconsistencies, clumsily presented on a bed of hand-picked obscure textual references, backed with ad hominim rhetorical flouishes, laced with venom, and served with a light sauce of pomposity . . . with croutons.

Kristin Chenoweth: Newsweek's Sean Hayes Piece 'Horrendously Homophobic'
If Sedooteh's "openly-gay," I'd like to suggest he crawl back into that closet he's recommending for others and back under the rock from whence he came. Perhaps, with years of intensive therapy, he could learn to write out his internalize homophobia in a more productive manner.
Bravos and kudos to Kristin Chenoweth for her lengthy response (which I've read elsewhere). I'm glad good Christians of her stripe are standing up and speaking out loudly on behalf of all LGBT people. "Lastly, as someone who’s been proudly advocating for equal rights and supporting GLBT causes for as long as I can remember," Chenoweth says . . . "No one needs to see a bigoted, factually inaccurate article that tells people who deviate from heterosexual norms that they can’t be open about who they are and still achieve their dreams."
I've elided items for space consideration, but the end line is found at:

Oh, and the links in the articles? They lead to asylum.comm news" and a few other sources, which, upon reading, are clearly satires/send-ups or directly contradict the points they're meant to support as in "Chely Gay Starts Rumor Country Star John Rich is Gay."
Linked articles that have been tagged "april fool" usually are SATIRE. The inability to read closely and distinguish satire, then serve it up as "absolutely serious" is either a brilliant pose, or REALLY scary in itself.
Are we straight on this now? Oh, damn . . . I don't usually ask people if they're straight.

British Judge: Christian Beliefs Have No Legal Standing
I have faith that the UK's record of leading the US when it comes to LGBT equality will eventually result in same-sex marriages here being acknowledged and granted equal privileges to opposite-sex couples. At present, my tradition's rites of hand-fasting ("marriage") between any two people aren't given equal treatment to state-approved rites, which are not extended to same-sex couples.
Sometimes "faith" (mine) drags on despite the "faith" and privileges granted by state-sanctioned rites of "faiths" that are granted special status.

DADT Protest: Gay Activists Arrested For Chaining Themselves To White House Fence To Protest Don't Ask Don't Tell
There are more pressing issues than DADT? When translators and other qualified officers are being outed (against DADT "official policy") and ousted against their wills? When they have not told, but have been betrayed by members of their own corps? When they have been interrogated until admitting their sexuality, without having acted on it? When the unit morale and cohesion is eroded by skilled, qualified, decorated service members being suddenly yanked out? When the gap is filled by less-qualified, ill-prepared novices as replacements?
And all of this in a time of war - in two countries?
Every service member is valuable, and those who would find absence of LGBT service members (the first to be "stop-lossed" in a crisis) an acceptable and good thing do not aid our troops. It's more akin to giving aid and comfort to our enemies.
"Precious time" is lost when irreplaceable soldiers and others become a "non-prior

May Day - a little dancing music
Duran Duran: "New Moon on Monday."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OxqnrFea8I
A little something for May Day, on its 120th anniversary as International Workers' Day.
May first is Labour Day in India and China.
Today's also the 50th anniversary for Maharashtra, which attained statehood on 1st of May, 1960. Bombay (a state) was divided into the two states of Maharashtra and Gujarat on the basis of eheir different languages. Maharashtra kept the old capital Bombay, which was later renamed Mumbai.
Last night, May Eve, was "Walpurgisnacht" - a traditional witch gathering that marks the transition to Beltane, the festival of the bonfires. It's one of the two points on the Wheel of the Year (Samhain being the other) when the barriers between the realms of earth and spirit are thinnest. I get together with like-minded pagans for drum circles on the beach most Full Moons, but also at May Eve and/or Beltane.
St. Walpurga was the neice of St. Boniface, who "felled" the sacred oak of Thor, defying Thor by calling upon him to strike him down, and then proceeding to begin chopping away at the oak. A great wind suddenly sprang up, the oak toppled over, and the people took it as a sign that Thor was powerless. Of such things are Christian saints too often made: destruction of a culture and appropriation of its holy days.
May is also Beltane, as noted. Ostara ("Easter") marks the official end of Winter (Vernal Equinox) , and fires are lit at dawn to note the coming of a season of new life. Often, seeds are planted. It's the first day of spring.
Beltane's all about fertility. It's the point where the Oak King is born and the Holly King passes. "The Land represented by the Goddess is now ripe and fertile and the Young God expresses His Love for Her. This is a time of joyous reveling as the first flowers of Summer are gathered in Their Honor. " The May Pole Dance and other forms of revelry (Morris Dances) make it quite the fun, lusty time.
The Gay Pagans UK - Ireland Yahoo group had a moot today in central London. Martin Cummins, its creator, is a lovely man. I've not met him personally, although I saw him at one such moot - a two-hour coffee klatsch within walking distance of the British Museum, Covent Garden, Treadwells and Atlantis bookshops and Mysteries are all within walking distance.
I didn't much relish attending such an event, but I went because of the excellent directions provided: "Located at the Aldwych end of Kingsway, nearest tube station is Temple, Holborn tube station is a 5 - 10 minute walk away. The venue is wheelchair accessible."
The last point about accessibility, obviously, got me there, where I connected with some fantastic queer pagans.
So, on behalf of my fellow Anglo-Indian pagans, Wiccans, and Marxist-leaning queers everywhere, I say: "Workers of the world, arise - and dance!"
And Blessed Be.
Peace,
Todd
